A motorized varifocal lens lets you adjust zoom and framing on screen until the shot is right — and a strobe light with an audible alarm makes the camera something an intruder has to react to.
Why this camera specifically?
Motorized varifocal (2.8-12mm) means you frame the shot remotely and re-frame it later without touching the bracket. 4MP gives face-identification detail at 8–10 metres. Smart Hybrid Light lets you pick full-colour night video or discreet infrared. The built-in microphone adds sound, and active deterrence (strobe + audible alarm) makes the camera act instead of only watch. What it does not do is listed further down.

What this camera will not do
- It is not a PTZ. The motor changes zoom and focus only. The camera will not pan, will not tilt, and will not follow anyone — you aim it once on the bracket and adjust the framing from your screen afterwards.
- It is 4MP, not 8MP. At full 12mm zoom that detail goes a long way down a driveway; at 2.8mm across a wide yard it is general awareness, not face identification.
- It is not an intercom. The microphone records sound into your footage; there is no two-way talk on this model.
- It is not the DS-2CD1643G2-LIZU we also list. That one has no strobe and no audible alarm. If deterrence is the reason you are buying, the difference is the whole point — check the model code on your quotation.
- It does not record on its own. Budget for an NVR — without a recorder this is an expensive way to watch live video and keep none of it.

One thing, and it is worth a lot: you set the framing from the software instead of from a ladder. On a gate, a corridor or a long driveway you rarely get it right the first time.
Does it record in colour at night?
Your choice. Smart Hybrid Light gives you full-colour video with the white light on, or discreet infrared with it off.
What do I need to run it?
A PoE NVR — one network cable per camera carries both power and video. Compatible with the Hikvision NVRs we stock.
Does it work without internet?
Yes. Recording to the NVR is local and needs no internet — internet is only required for mobile viewing via the Hik-Connect app.
Is the warranty official?
Yes — genuine Hikvision stock with a one-year official warranty in Egypt; your invoice is the warranty document.
