The DS-KIS604-P is the cheapest IP intercom kit we carry — meaning the cheapest route to the feature people actually buy a modern intercom for: answering the door from your phone wherever you are, through the Hik-Connect app. The kit contains an all-in-one villa door station with a single call button and a 2 MP camera + a 7-inch touchscreen indoor monitor, and both run on PoE.
Where it sits on the ladder: it costs more than the analogue DS-KIS212 — what you gain is the app, the network and the higher resolution. And it costs less than the modular DS-KIS602, which brings an expandable modular door station (keypad / cards) and a PoE switch in the box. And if your budget already stretches that far, look at the DS-KIS610-P: a newer generation with 4 MP, a 150° angle and Wi-Fi 6, for a small difference over this kit. The 604-P is the "lowest budget that still gets you the app" choice — and that is exactly its job.
Where it actually gets used
A flat or a single-family house: one button, one screen, and answering from the phone — the most common setup. Future expansion: the system accepts up to 5 additional indoor monitors if you want a screen on every floor. While you are travelling: the ring reaches you on Hik-Connect and you open for a guest or a delivery from the app.

What is the real difference between this and the cheaper KIS212? One word: the phone. The 212 is analogue with no app — you answer at the screen only. Here you answer from anywhere in the world.
Why choose it over the newer KIS610-P? Honestly? Budget alone. The 610-P is higher resolution (4 MP) and newer, for a small difference — if you can stretch to it, it is the better buy. If you cannot, the 604-P covers the need in full.
